Yes, the capsule only works in a closed cup. The suitable drying cup is available individually, or it is more affordable together with the capsules in the drying set.
Do the capsules also fit cups from other manufacturers?
Usually yes. Common drying cups have comparable internal dimensions.
Are the capsules also suitable for rechargeable hearing aids?
Yes, for all designs. For battery-powered devices, leave the battery compartment open.

The drying capsules are refill capsules with desiccant for the drying jar and dry hearing aids overnight without electricity.
The desiccant does the actual work
In the drying jar, the capsule is the active principle. The desiccant inside removes moisture from the air in the closed jar. Your hearing system releases sweat and condensation overnight, and the sensitive electronics remain protected. Moisture is the number one cause of repairs, so the small step each evening is worthwhile.
One capsule works for about two months, depending on use, so with four capsules, you're covered for about eight months. They fit into the Phonak drying jar as well as common drying jars from other manufacturers. In the drying set, you get the jar and capsules together at a lower price.
